Lead weakens on sluggish demand

Tracking weakness in other base metals amid sluggish demand from battery-makers, lead futures prices fell by 0.52% to Rs 106.05 per kg today.
However, the metal's firmness on the London Metal Exchange capped the losses.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in April shed 55 paise, or 0.52%, to Rs 106.20 per kg, with a business turnover of one lot.
The February contract lost 30 paise, or 0.29%, to Rs 103.80 per kg, with a turnover of 641 lots.
Analysts said slackened demand from battery-makers at the spot markets mainly kept pressure on the metal prices at futures trade here but metal's firmness on the LME capped losses. Lead gained 0.2% to $2,120 per tonne in London.
