Mentha oil futures rise on pick-up in demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 3.60 to Rs 931 per kg in futures trading today as traders enlarged their positions, driven by pick-up in spot market demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May rose by Rs 3.60, or 0.39% to Rs 931 per kg, with a business turnover of a single lot.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June edged up by 90 paise, or 0.10% to Rs 892 per kg, with an open interest of one lot.

Market analysts said increased buying by traders due to pick-up in demand in the spot market against less arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
