Potato rises 0.77% on spot demand
March contract gains 0.33%

Potato prices rose by Rs 5.40 to Rs 705 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by rising demand in the spot market on the back of beginning of 'Navratri' festival.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in April rose by Rs 5.40, or 0.77%, to Rs 705 per quintal in a business turnover of three lots.
The potato for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 2.40, or 0.33%, to Rs 734.90 per quintal in just one lot.
Market experts said fresh positions built-up by speculators on the back of pick up in demand in the spot market following the beginning of auspicious 'Navratri' festival.
