Potato sheds 0.5% on higher supplies

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Potato futures prices fell by Rs 3.60 to Rs 619.50 per quintal today, due to increased arrivals from producing regions against lower spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, March potato declined by Rs 3.60, or 0.58%, to Rs 619.50 per quintal, with a business turnover of 141 lots.

The April contract shed Rs 3, or 0.50%, to Rs 592 per quintal, with a trade volume of 10 lots.

Traders attributed the fall in potato futures prices to increased arrivals from producing regions against lower demand in the spot market.
