Sensex ends at 13,845, up 148pts

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 34 points at 13,730. After touching a low of 13,726, the index rallied to higher levels backed by significant buying in auto, banking and FCMG shares.

Unabated buying saw the index rally to a new all-time intra-day high of 13,858, before settling at a record 13,845, up 148 points.

The Sensex is now just 150 odd points short of another landmark in form of 14,000.
