Sensex up 281pts in late trades

The Sensex is now up 281 points at 11,099.

The Sensex has extended gains, and touched a high of 11,069. The index is now up 221 points at 11,038. Earlier in the day, the index had dropped to a low of 10,759.

Wipro has zoomed over 8% to Rs 305. Tata Steel has soared nearly 6% to Rs 258.

Reliance Infrastructure has surged nearly 6% to Rs 708. Sterlite has gained 4.7% at Rs 385.

Maruti, Grasim and Infosys have moved up around 4.5% each to Rs 788, Rs 1,660 and Rs 1,438, respectively.

Tata Motors, ICICI Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra have dropped around 4% each to Rs 242, Rs 416 and Rs 441, respectively.

 

Reliance Communications has declined nearly 4% to Rs 222. DLF and Hindalco are up around 3.5% each at Rs 235 and Rs 56, respectively.

Sun Pharma has dropped nearly 2% to Rs 1,159. Bharti Airtel is down 1% at Rs 703.

The market breadth has turned positive - out of 2,504 stocks traded so far, 1,289 have advanced, 1,110 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
