Sensex up 44pts; Bhel, Tata Steel up 2%

The Sensex is now up 44 points at 14,587.

Reliance Communications has rallied over 3% to Rs 412.

Bhel and Tata Steel have surged 2% each to Rs 1,712 and Rs 612, respectively.

ACC, Sterlite and Ranbaxy have advanced over 1.5% each to Rs 569, Rs 611 and Rs 500, respectively.

DLF, NTPC and Tata Power have gained 1.3% each at Rs 507, Rs 184 and Rs 1,031, respectively.

ONGC has shed 2.5% at Rs 1,037. Mahindra & Mahindra has slipped 2.3% to Rs 548.

Satyam is down 1% at Rs 402.
