Sterlite ends high at 7%

The stock ended at Rs 409- up over 6.5%. It touched a low of Rs 375 and a high of Rs 414. The counter clocked a volume of 1.3 million shares on the counter at the BSE.

Sterlite Industries opened up Rs 4 at Rs 387 and touched a low of Rs 385. However, it advanced to a high of Rs 398.

The stock is now up Rs 10 (2.5%) at Rs 393.

The company had announced its third quarter results yesterday.

According to a release issued by the company to the BSE, the consolidated net profit slipped 54.6% to Rs 598.25 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 1,318.41 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2008.

The total income declined 34.8% to Rs 4,800 crore for Q4FY09 as against Rs 7,357.70 crore for Q4FY08.
