Strong second-quarter results boost Canara Bank

Canara Bank rose 5.05 per cent to close at Rs 180.85 on Monday after the bank announced robust numbers for the second quarter ended September 2008. The bank’s net profit jumped by 31.84 per cent year-on-year to Rs 529.43 crore and total income was up by 9.7 per cent to Rs 4,447.97 crore.
The stock touched an an intraday high of Rs 191 and a low of Rs 166.15. A total of 507,860 shares were traded on the counter on Monday. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 421.45 on January 3 and a 52-week low of Rs 145 on October 10.
