Weekly Market Report - Jaggery

JAGGERY: The wholesale gur (jaggery) price showed a loss of Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital during the week under review on continuous supply of new gur against restricted buying.

On the other than, gur shakkar remained in keen demand for the festivals like "Makar Shakaranti" and "Lohri" and rose by Rs 100 per quintal.    

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also developed a weak trend as prices lost upto Rs 150 per quintal on adequate stocks positions.

Market analysts said apart from good seasonal demand, heavy supply of new gur into the market mainly created adequate stocks position and pull down the prices.

In Delhi, gur pedi lost by Rs 50 to close at Rs 2,500-2,550 as compared to the last week's close of Rs 2,550-2,600 per quintal.

Chakku also dropped by Rs 50 to settle at Rs 2,350-2,400 as compared from last week's close of Rs 2,400-2,450 per quintal. On the other hand, shakkar prices strengthened due to festive buying and rose by Rs 100 to Rs 2,800-2,900 per quintal.

However, gur dhayya prices held steady at Rs 2,600-2,650 per quintal in restricted buying. At Muzzafarnagar, gur chakku declined from Rs 2,300-2,400 to Rs 2,150-2,300, showing a net loss of Rs 150 per quintal. 

Gur raskat went down from Rs 1,850-1,925 to Rs 1,800-1,900 per quintal on fall in demand from alcohol making industries.

Meanwhile, gur khurpa prices maintained last week's closing levels on little doings at Rs 2,150-2,200 per quintal. 

In Muradnagar, gur pedi and dhayya prices continiued to be asked on previous closing levels on some support at Rs 2,250-2,300 and Rs 2,300-2,350 per quintal. W
