A Surya Prakash named as Prasar Bharati Chairman

Senior journalist A Surya Prakash on Tuesday was appointed as the Chairman of the Prasar Bharati Board, on the recommendation of a three-member committee, headed by Vice President Hamid Ansari.

The committee, which announced their decision in a statement by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, also comprised of Press Council of India Chairman Markandey Katju and Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary Bimal Julka.

Prakash's appointment fills a post which had been lying vacant for the last six months after the completion of the tenure by Mrinal Pande in May this year.
