Australian top-order batsman Aaron Finch has claimed that the nerves have started to sink in for their Cricket World Cup opener against England at the MCG on Saturday.
Finch (61) and skipper Michael Clarke (64) shared an opening stand of 123, helping Australia post 8-304 in Wednesday night's warm-up game against the United Arab Emirates at the MCG and knocked the visitors over for 116 in reply.
For Finch, the prospect of playing in front of 90,000 people on Saturday is giving him extra reason to spend the next few days in nervous excitement, News.com.au reported.
Finch claimed that it's a lot of excitement, admitting that it is a bit nervous. He believes that the nerves started to sink in after the UAE game, adding that all their preparation's done pretty much and now they have just got that one game to look forward to.
The batsman said that there is a lot of excitement, claiming that there would be undoubtedly a lot of nerves.
Finch said that it's the opening game of a World Cup and believes that they're expecting 90,000-strong crowd there, which is going to be amazing.
Day one of the World Cup features two matches, with co-host New Zealand taking on Sri Lanka in Christchurch before the Australia-England showpiece at the MCG, the report added.
