Afghanistan: Taliban using ?camera drones in Helmand

ANI Kabul [Afghanistan]

The Taliban group has released a video of drone footage taken of the Nawa district in Helmand, which is under their control and are using camera drones for operational purposes.

According to a statement by the Helmand media, the Taliban have received the drones from outside intelligence agencies and are using these for operational purposes, reports Tolo News.

In June 2016, the National Unity Government (NUG) banned the use of camera drones in Afghanistan due to security issues, a move that was met with mixed reaction.

The Afghan media slammed the government for the ban on use of camera drones during media coverage of events in the country, terming the move a violation of the mass media law.

They also said it is an attempt to restrict media activities.

Daesh militants have, however, used the hi-tech devices to film their own rocket attacks for propaganda videos in Iraq.
