Bangladesh has won the rain-affected first one-day international against New Zealand at Dhaka by beating the tourists by 43 runs, boosted by a career-best 6-26 and a hat-trick by their fast bowler Rubel Hossain.

New Zealand was 82-3 after 20 overs when unexpected rain delayed the match for 105 minutes, following which, there were all out for 162 in 29.5 overs at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium given a revised, tougher target of 206 off 33 overs under the Duckworth Lewis method

According to Stuff.co.nz, Bangladesh was dismissed in 49.5 overs for 265, its highest score against New Zealand, with the side's captain Mushfiqur Rahim top-scoring with 90 and batsman Naeem Islam making 84.

Although New Zealand batsmen Corey Anderson and Grant Elliott gave an aggressive answer to the Bangladeshi bowlers, they were no match for Hossain, who became the third Bangladeshi to achieve an ODI hat trick with his wickets of Anderson (46), James Neesham (0) and captain Brendan McCullum (0).

Hossain later dismissed Nathan McCullum (10) and Grant Elliott (71) to help his side seal the first of three matches, the report added.
