Bangladesh PM Hasina inaugurates 'Sonar Bangla Express'

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the "Sonar Bangla Express", a direct inter-city train service, on the Dhaka-Chittagong route, today.

The train service was inaugurated at Kamalapur Railway Station at 11:30 a.m. local time.

The 16-coach train reportedly will reach its destination in five hours and forty minutes.

This is the second direct train service on the Dhaka-Chittagong route after another direct inter-city train "Suborno Express" which was launched on the route in 1998.
