Calling the Congress' demand to temporarily stop 'Mann ki Baat' "laughable", Bharatiya Janata Party leader and lawmaker Meenakshi Lekhi today said that the programme was non-political and inspires people to work on issues such as road accidents and dengue

"I find it laughable for the simple reason that Mann ki Baat is a non political exchange of ideas and especially the PM has used that platform to share ideas where he wants people to be inspired and work on certain issues like road accidents and dengue," Lekhi told ANI.

Lekhi also added that Prime Minister Modi has never engaged himself in any kind of political statement on that particular programme.

The Congress Party is likely to approach the Election Commission seeking a ban on the broadcast of Prime Minister Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' programme, which is scheduled to be aired on Sunday.

According to reports, the Congress is citing the Model Code of Conduct, which is presently in place for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, as the reason for opposing the programme.
