BSF IG says there are trained militants along international border

ANI Jammu

The Inspector General (IG) of Border Security Force (BSF), Rakesh Sharma, on Sunday said that there are trained militants along the international border.

Speaking at a press conference here, Sharma said, "There are some trained militants across the border and they are generally seen in civilian clothes but they have never been able to come close to the international border. There are reports that they are there."

Sharma, however, added that these militants have been unable to cross the border so far.

"It is a well known fact that Pakistan is training militants and is providing support to push them to the Indian Territory but they have not been able to come to the international border. We have seen some movement on their side of the border. I can't confirm or deny if they were infiltrators, but they were not allowed to come close to the international border," he said.

Confirming that the ceasefire has been broken more than 30 times since July 16, Sharma said the Pakistan Rangers first fire their light guns, including their medium machine guns, after which they strike with mortal shelling.

"Every time we lodge a protest with Pakistan over a ceasefire violation, the reply is always a denial," he added.
