The citizens held a candle light march today to mark the completion of one year of the riots that killed at least 60 persons last year, with thousands of people displaced.

A similar march was also held earlier this morning to mourn the loss of lives during the riots in both Muzaffarnagar as well as other neighbouring districts.

People of all age groups, from school students to senior citizens, participated in the march.

Earlier today, Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hari Narayan Singh had said that from September 1 to 8 they have organized a function which will have street plays, sports, cultural programmes, rallies and related activities, so that environment of peace is created among people.
