Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Tuesday said a case has been registered and an investigation was underway against the Uber cab driver who allegedly raped a finance executive on Friday, for forging his character certificate,
"One document has surfaced which purportedly certifies his character. The date of the certificate, signature of the person who has signed was also not posted there. So, the documents are fake and a case has been filed against the same. The investigation is being done," said Bassi.
As per reports, the Uber cab driver accused of raping the finance executive on Friday, had been convicted for a similar crime in 2011 and had spent over seven months in prison. However, he was later granted bail.
An FIR had also been lodged earlier against Uber by the Delhi Police for cheating customers on the pretext of providing safe commuting with duly verified driver.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) also summoned the local Chief Executive Officer of international taxi-booking service Uber.

The Delhi Police will also reportedly continue questioning officials of the taxi service in Delhi.
The Delhi Government had on Monday banned Uber from functioning in the national capital even as the company issued a statement assuring its full co-operation to help the victim and her family in their recovery.
Leaders of various political parties and social activists condemned this incident, calling for justice and better safety measures for women.
