Christian Benteke to wear Liverpool's 'No.9' jersey

Liverpool's new acquisition Christian Benteke has been handed famous No.9 jersey at Anfield.

"Confirmed: @bentekechris20 is LFC's new No.9," said Liverpool's official Twitter.

The squad number was earlier worn by legendary footballers Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler, the Daily Express reported.

Earlier, Benteke had signed a 32.5million pounds deal with the Premier League giants, making him their seventh summer signing.

The 24-year-old made a big impact on his debut by scoring a stunning volley in Liverpool's 2-1 win over Swindon last weekend.
