The Congress party on Tuesday was denied permission to carry out its protest march against the Land Acquisition Bill.

The Delhi Police has set up barricades and water cannons at Vijay Chowk to prevent the protestors from reaching the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The Congress planned to protest against the NDA Government's Land Acquisition Ordinance, marching from the Parliament to the Rashtrapati Bhawan under the leadership of its president Sonia Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh.

Along with the Congress, leaders of the Janata Dal (United), Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, CPI (M), DMK, INLD as well as other parties were also expected to participate in the protest.
