Prime Minister Narendra Modi, interacting live on Friday with millions of students and teachers across the country on the occasion of Teachers' Day, said that the country's future lies with the students.

"Teachers' Day is gradually losing its significance. What is the reason why a lot of people do not want to become teachers? We must think about this," he said while delivering his speech at the Manekshaw Auditorium in the national capital.

"The world needs good teachers. India is a youthful nation. Can't we think of exporting good teachers? Why can't our children think that they want to be good teachers? Some children even dress up like their teachers, this enthusiasm needs to be promoted?" he said.

The Prime Minister also interacted with students and took questions through video-conference facility.

The Prime Minister also paid his tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on the occasion.

"Teacher, scholar and statesman, he remains an inspiration for the entire Nation," he said in his message earlier while greeting the people on Teachers' Day.
