Force India releases 'carefully-chosen' pic of new 2014 F1 car

Force India has reportedly become the first Formula One team to release a 'carefully-chosen' photograph of their new 2014 F1 car, VJM07.

F1 is introducing the biggest set of rule changes for a generation this season and cars are expected to feature ugly noses with a very narrow forward section, 365 mm lower than last year, to provide the best aerodynamics within the rules.

According to the BBC, the Silverstone-based team has issued a single photograph of the VJM07, for which they have chosen a new, predominantly black colour scheme, and the angle of the photo prevents a full view of the nose of the car.

The team admitted that the photo has been carefully chosen to avoid revealing too much detail, adding that their ambition was to improve on their sixth-place finish in the constructors' championship in 2013.

Force India technical director Andrew Green said the nose design on the car in the picture was a 'launch spec', adding that they will later have an updated front end of the car, which potentially is quite different.

Meanwhile, team principal Vijay Mallya said that they need to aim higher than last year, adding that although it is an ambitious goal, it is also realistic as they have the key elements in place to continue moving forward.

Mallya referred to the team's new technical partnership with Mercedes, which is supplying the entire drive-train, and their all-new driver line-up of German Nico Hulkenberg and Mexican Sergio Perez.
