From eye care to home appliances, Japan gears up to grab larger market share

Japan is fast grabbing a larger slice of the pie in the global market - be it eye care or home appliances.

Many international brands showcased eye care products at the recently held Thailand Optometry Association Exhibition.

As a result of the changes in lifestyle, more Thai people are being exposed to risk of eye problems and the demand for vision correction has been increasing rapidly.

Japan's Hoya showcased a wide range of ophthalmic lenses, offering the perfect solution for any type of visual correction or fashion trend.

The portfolio ranges from a variety of single vision lens designs and indoor solutions to entry level. Individualized progressives are also available in different lens materials with top quality treatments such as photochromic, anti-reflection and tints.

 

Hoya sees the great opportunity to explore the Thai optical market extensively.

"The statistics of Thailand has changed. We have a lot of population that needs more eye correction then also with the new technology conserve the needs. Besides that we also have statistic of more senior people with high needs of focusing lens. We have a lot of new design, new technologies, new coating to serve all their needs. I think this is the secret behind our success," said Kessuda Saligupta, President, Thai HOYA Lens Ltd.

Thai Hoya launched its new product "Sensity" and "Dynamic" Progressive lenses.

The company constantly brings the latest technologies that enable Hoya to meet the environment changes and provide solution for eye health maintenance at the same time.

Hoya started optical lens production in 1941 in Japan and ventured to Thai market in 70s.

Thai Hoya is celebrating 40th anniversary in Thailand.

"With our best in class service for long year, we come to meet more customer satisfaction and we still continue to make added values," said Sema Suansri, Business Development, Thai Hoya Lens Ltd.

Japanese gas appliances manufacture, Rinnai, has set a strategy to build a channel to deliver its energy-efficient hot water supply and air cooling system products through Rinnai Australia, as a center of Asia-Pacific business.

In recent years, Rinnai has invested to create many factories in Australia to utilize technical resources in the country to produce products to export.

" We've been very successful in capitalize on the building boom for infrastructures in many developing Asian nations and Middle East, I think one of our core competences in Rinnai is that we have our Japanese parent with such wonderful technologies and high efficiency technologies that we've been able to capitalize and explode in Australia with our manufacturing," said Greg Ellis, Managing Director, Rinnai Australia Pty Ltd.

Rinnai Australia is a registered company in Australia for 43 years. It has grown from a sales branch of Rinnai Japan to now nearly 300 million dollar business, which covers Australia and Asia Pacific rim, with a obvious growth of Rinnai co-products of Japan.

The company was expanding so rapidly that it needed to migrate to a new headquarter.

At their 40th anniversary, Rinnai constructed a purpose designed building in southern part of Melbourne, midway of three major ports, which accommodates over 350 staff, 10,000 meters warehouses, laboratory and testing facility.

"We've also been very successful in sending out people to Asia, to Singapore, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Middle East, Where we do extensive training for Rinnai Channels and Rinnai customers," said Greg Ellis, Managing Director, Rinnai Australia Pty Ltd.

The competences to deliver to Asia and Middle East market from Rinnai Australia is customized hot water design system and climate systems, which are manufactured in Australia and export to those market through the Rinnai channels.

"Together with the Japan core competences of efficiency, and our own ability to manufacture in Australia together with weak dollar, we really believe that Rinnai Australia story of growth substantially and particularly our focus is on commitment to our Asian neighbors, where growth and development will continue to utilize Rinnai Australia's customize solution design and high engineering capabilities," added Ellis.
