South African golfer George Coetzee is on the top of the leaderboard at the Qatar Masters on Wednesday after a late birdie blitz.
Coetzee finished with three consecutive birdies to take a one-shot lead with an eight-under 64 despite a sensational albatross shot by English ace Steve Webster on his very first hole.
Sport24 reports that despite the feat, Webster eventually had to settle for a share of second place with South African Dawie Van der Walt, who had had carded a bogey-free round although he earlier scored a fluent 65 to take the provisional clubhouse lead. ebster's albatross was the second of the season on the European Tour after Dutchman Joost Luiten produced one at the Volvo Golf Champions in Durban earlier this month, although this was the first time at this level that anyone had shot an albatross on his opening hole, the report added.
