Gogoi reiterates his opposition to visa-free entry to Bangladeshis

ANI Guwahati

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday reiterated that he is opposed to the central government's proposal to give visa-free entry to Bangladeshi nationals below 18 years and above 65 years of age.

"We are opposing visa-free entry. We are deadly against it," said Gogoi.

The government had sought the state's opinion on the proposal and had sent a list of it to the state government.

Opposing the proposal, Gogoi had contended that this move would make it difficult for the state government to trace both people coming to India with a valid visa and those without any visa.
