'Green Book' to open at Cairo Film Festival

American film director Peter Farrelly's upcoming comedy-drama, 'Green Book' is all set to premiere at the revamped Cairo Film Festival, which will run from November 20 to 29.
Starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen, 'Green Book' is about a tour of the Deep South in the 1960s by Jamaican-American classical pianist Don Shirley and New York bouncer Tony Lip who served as Shirley's driver and security.
The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2018, where it won the People's Choice Award. It is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 21, 2018.
Furthermore, the festival will launch Alfonso Cuaron's 'Roma' in the region. Also, a special nine-title sidebar will be dedicated to celebrate female Arab directors which will also be the topic of a panel for which Palestine's Annemarie Jacir ('Wajib'); Algeria's Sofia Djama ('The Blessed'); Tunisia's Kaouther Ben Hania ('Beauty and the Dogs'); and Egypt's Hala Khalil ('Nawara') and Hala Lofty ('Coming Forth by Day') have been recruited.
Oscar-winning Danish director Billie August will preside over the jury.
