Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif have agreed to release the fishermen of both sides within a period of 15 days.
Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar shared the information.
"[Prime Minister Modi and Sharif] agreed on... the release of fishermen in each others' custody, along with their boats within a period of 15 days," he said.
In their meeting, Prime Minister Modi and Sharif also agreed to cooperate with each other to eliminate terrorism from South Asia, noting their collective responsibility to ensure peace.
The talks between the two leaders took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
Last month, India had released 88 Pakistani fishermen as goodwill gesture during Ramadan, while Pakistan returned the favour by handing over 113 Indian fishermen lodged in a Karachi jail.
