The Bangladesh Government and the International Labor Organization (ILO) have agreed to launch a new program to improve working conditions in garment factories.
The specialized United Nations agency said the three-and-a-half year initiative will focus on improving ready-made garment factory building safety, and workers' rights and conditions in Bangladesh.
ILO also said that the program will contribute to safety work, which is already underway in the country since the devastating Tazreen factory fire in 2012 and the Rana Plaza building collapse almost six months ago in which over 1,100 workers lost their lives.
