Iranian Parliament speaker urges lawmakers to decide on historic nuke deal

ANI New York

The speaker of Iranian Parliament, Ali Larijani, has called upon the lawmakers to reach a decision on the landmark nuclear deal with world powers which would curb the country's nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions.

According to ABC News, Larijani also told the members of Parliament that it would harm the country if it is delayed more.

He said that Tehran had expected Washington take longer to approve the deal given opposition to it in the Republican-led Congress.

US President Barack Obama won enough Democratic support to prevent the Congress from derailing the agreement or forcing him to use his veto.

The Iranian Parliament is expected to decide on the agreement in the coming days.
