Philippines had witnessed the worst of its time when Tsunami struck in the recent past. However, Japan's NEC Corporation will be a stepping stone for the country to ready for any disaster.
The company has been selected to provide the Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology with a wide-area disaster prevention system to detect volcanic and seismic activity by using seismic intensity meters and tide indicators, as well as offering disaster countermeasures.
This project is backed by grant aid from the Japanese government's program for Improvement of Equipment for Disaster Risk Management.
The system will be commencing from February 2015 aiming to provide wide range of services in terms of Disaster Management by collating sensor data from the strong-motion seismographs and tide indicators located throughout the Philippines at the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology via satellite-based communication (VSAT).
The constant monitoring of Volcanic and Seismic activity will help to provide timely information to the ministries and other agencies during earthquake.

As per the geographical location, Phillippines is located in the seismic belt which is prone to earthquake.
It's been noted that proper surveillance system should be put in place in order to check the disaster and timely action and appropriate measure will be taken.
The seismic intensity meters will be located in approximately 40 locations and tide indicators will be located in approximately 20 locations all over the Philippines, and these sensors will use photovoltaic solar cells so that they can send data constantly.
The data on oscillation and the tides will be gathered in real time, enabling the constant monitoring of volcanic and seismic activity.
NEC has came up with a new idea by making further contributions to the enhancement of disaster counter measures by proposing a mechanism that will make an automatic notification when there is any abnormal change in the data.
This can be accomplished through coordination between this system and the systems of the other Philippine ministries and agencies, and a warning service for citizens.
