A day after violent clashes erupted between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed to his party members to remain non violent.
"I request people not to spread any violence. I came to know that yesterday, one of our worker retaliated, for which I apologize," Kejriwal told media here.
Kejriwal, who in on a four-day tour to Gujarat, further said that his party needed to be prepared for more incidents of 'arrest and intimidation' following the detention of several party workers
AAP leaders Ashutosh and Shazia Ilmi have been named in the FIR filed by Delhi police in connection with clashes that took place between the AAP and BJP workers.
The FIR was lodged at Delhi's Parliament Street police station last night on the charges of rioting, preventing public servants from performing their duty, damaging public properties, and causing hurt.
Police said, 28 persons - 13 AAP activists, 10 BJP supporters, four policemen and a mediaperson - were injured in the clashes which broke out hours after Kejriwal was briefly detained in Gujarat.
The Gujarat Police stated that Kejriwal had not taken permission from them to hold road show.
