Kejriwal objects to Rahul Gandhi's copter-style politics, hopes Modi won't follow suit

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, who will be filing his nomination for the Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi on Wednesday, said he objects to the helicopter-style politics of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, and hoped BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi would not follow suit.

He also said that the Nehru-Gandhi family's claim of there being development in Amethi and Rae Bareli were not true, and added that the fight in these 2014 elections is for people who want a corruption free India.

"I returned from Amethi yesterday and I discussed their problems too. People told me that they have been voting for the Gandhi family for the past 30 years, but still there has been no development there," said Kejriwal.

 

"They people don't get to see him (Rahul). They see only his helicopter flying in the sky. I hope it does not happen in Varanasi that you are pointed to a flying chopper and told that your leader (Modi) is there," he added.

"I will file my nominations from Kashi today, I have your blessings. This is a fight of the people of Kashi who want a corruption free India. They want good roads and other facilities," he said.

He also said that the condition of roads in Varanasi is poor.

"I had heard that the roads in Kashi are poor, but after walking on those roads I realised the pain of the people here. The roads are damaged here," he said.

"Narendra Modi will file his papers tomorrow. He will arrive at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) by helicopter and then travel into town again by helicopter. I have Rs. 500 in my pocket and an old jeep," he added while apparently trying to draw parallels between himself and Modi.

"You decide if you want helicopter democracy or somebody who goes to villages and mohallas," he further asked.

In Varanasi, Kejriwal is pitted against Modi and Congress candidate Ajay Rai.
