Former South African opener and coach Gary Kirsten believes that AB de Villiers-led side would quash their infamous tag of 'chokers' by clinching their maiden cricket World Cup trophy in the ongoing sport's pinnacle tournament in Australia and New Zealand.

Kirsten, who is now helping the team as a consultant, said that he was desperately hoping that they could win the World Cup this year, the Dawn reported.

Kirsten coached Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men to help clinch India their second World Cup title in 2011.

Admitting that sentiment would play no role in Sunday's clash against India, Kirsten said that in a professional environment work is work, adding that whatever the colours one wear, one is expected to give his best shot, the report added.

South Africa have beaten India thrice in the World Cup tournaments of 1992, 1999 and 2011.
