Mufti Mohammad Sayeed sworn-in as J-K chief minister

People's Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was on Sunday sworn-in as the 12th chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

He was administered the oath of office by Governor NN Vohra at the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu University.

BJP leader Nirmal Singh was also sworn-in as the Deputy chief minister of the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and party veteran L K Advani were among those who attended the ceremony.

Mufti will be heading a PDP-BJP coalition government in the state.

A common minimum programme the two parties worked out to form a coalition will also be made public today.

 

The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir threw up a hung verdict with the PDP emerging as the single-largest party winning 28 seats.

The BJP won 25 seats, while the National Conference and Congress won 15 and 12 seats respectively.
