Researchers have reportedly come up with a battery that could keep wearable and health care devices running for 10 or more years without a recharge.

The new technology can also make batteries safer than before as they use lithium carbon fluoride (CFx) chemical.

These devices can be a breakthrough in batteries, and could prove very efficient in devices like Pacemaker.

Researcher Chengdu Liang said that these batteries could be as small as a coin, and could last for years in low-power fitness trackers or wearable devices with sensors.

Liang said that researchers have been contacted by a private company interested in commercializing the battery, adding that it could become a reality in a few years depending on the commercialization timeline.
