Pakistani-born South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir has said that he is more of a South African than a Pakistani, adding that he felt honoured at playing for the world's best Test team.

Tahir, who changed allegiance after being brought up in Pakistan, had grabbed a career best 5-32 on the opening day of the second Test which his team needs to win to level the two-Test series, leading to Pakistan being bowled out for 99 and South Africa leading with 128-3 at close.

According to Sport24, Tahir said that it did not feel strange for him to play against the country of his birth as he believes he is more of a South African than a Pakistani, adding that he appreciates the opportunities he has got from South Africa and will try to pay his adopted country back with his performances.

The report mentioned that Tahir, who also played for English counties Hampshire, Warwickshire and Yorkshire, married a South African woman and qualified to play for them in 2011.
