The Pakistan Taliban has reportedly denied reports that said the group had pledged its allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq and Syria saying, that its statement to the media had been misinterpreted.
Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Shahid Shahidullah said on Monday that the statement released by the group expressed its support for all Islamist militants fighting against western countries in Syria and Iraq, reported the Dawn.
Shahidullah made it clear that the group was not supporting any specific outfit in Syria or Iraq and added that all the groups were noble and their brothers.
Analysts believe that the IS and the TTP are in direct competition with each other for fighters and funds.
