Patty Jenkins has been roped in as the new helmer for DC Comics' 'Wonder Woman' after Michelle MacLaren left the project over creative differences, it has been revealed.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jenkins has agreed a deal to direct the big-screen adaptation of the iconic comic character, due for release in 2017.

She recently directed the pilot for AMC series 'The Killing', but is best known for directing 2003's 'Monster', a crime drama that won star Charlize Theron an Oscar for her role as serial killer Aileen Wuomos.

The American film helmer was originally set to make her break into superhero movies as the director of Marvel's 'Thor 2', but walked away from the project citing creative differences.
