Power Rangers have been earmarked by production company Lionsgate as a new potential franchise.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer asserted that the American franchise and their characters had been embraced by generations of audiences for more than 20 years, and today they were more powerful than ever, The Guardian reported.
Power Rangers creator Haim Saban said that Lionsgate was the perfect home for elevating their brand to the next level and they had the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record to launch breakthrough hits from 'The Hunger Games' to 'Twilight' and 'Divergent'.
The action children series began in 1993 and featured photogenic pan-ethnic teenage warriors who donned colored suits to battle intergalactic antagonists.
