Spanish giants Real Madrid has climbed to the top of the La Liga standings following their 3-0 victory over Elche at Bernabeu on Saturday, sending them three points clear at the top of the Spanish league.
With the victory, Carlo Ancelotti's side has notched their 15th win in their past 16 games in all competitions.
Real, who were without leading scorer Cristiano Ronaldo as he served the final game of his three-match suspension, snatched the top spot from arch rivals Barcelona, which suffered a shock 3-1 defeat at Real Sociedad later on Saturday
According to the BBC, 85 million-pound summer signing Gareth Bale grabbed his 12th goal in 24 games in the 71st minute with an impressive 30-yard strike after Asier Illarramendi gave the hosts the lead in the first half.
Midfielder Isco slotted in the third goal nine minutes from time, closing home Real's victory.
Meanwhile, the report added that Atletico Madrid, who began the day in third but level on points with both Barcelona and Real, would visit Osasuna on Sunday.
