Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) counsel Ashraf Ali on Friday said West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra's bail plea in connection with the Saradha scam case has been transferred to a sessions court in the city.

"Under section 439 of the Case of Criminal Procedure, for bail in connection with the Saradha case, the bail application of Madan Mitra has been transferred to the city sessions court. The CBI was

apprehensive that a fair hearing might not take place before the Alipore district court and demanded that the bail petition be transferred to any other competent court," Ali told the media.

"We hope to get fair justice from the city court chief judge," he added.

The CBI had moved the Calcutta High Court a few days ago seeking transfer of the bail plea of Mitra from Alipore Court, where it was scheduled to be heard on May 11.

Mitra is in judicial custody following his arrest in December 12 last year in connection with the scam.
