Former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott launched a series of scathing remarks over England's abysmal performance in Friday's humiliating eight-wicket defeat by New Zealand in Wellington.

Earlier in the week, Boycott criticized Morgan, saying that the skipper lacks cleverness while he faces top-class bowlers of the world.

Reflecting on England's humiliating defeat against New Zealand, Boycott said that perhaps England aren't as good as they think they are, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Boycott further said that the pitch was a flat 270-minimum and they made a right mess of it.

Maintaining that England still have the opportunity to make it to the knock-out stages, Boycott said that England are not out of the World Cup, adding that they have to beat Scotland, Bangladesh and Afghanistan and then they're through to quarter-finals.

The batting legend added that it was a good job they had got minnows to play because they were not playing good enough to beat any decent team.
