'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' undertaken by airports nationwide

As a part of the "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" many national airports undertook a special cleaning drive on Thursday.

These included Amritsar, Dehradun, Jaipur, Leh, Pune, Ahmedabad, Safderjung, Vadodra, Jammu, Chandigarh, Tirupati, Thiruvananthapuram, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati and Mangalore.

A "Swachhata Shapath" ceremony was also organized here at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in which all the officials of the Civil Aviation Ministry took the pledge for a "Swachh Bharat".

The pledge was administered by the secretary of civil aviation, V Somasundaran in the presence of senior officials.

After the pledge-taking ceremony, a special drive was undertaken to clean the office premises.

To mark the occasion, out of 765 schools identified for construction of toilets by Airports Authority of India (AAI) in 37 districts across the country under CSR, preliminary works also started today in selected schools located in Rajkot, Tirupati, Porbander, Rajamundari, Udaipur and Kolkata.
