Thousands of mourners attend funeral of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin

Thousands of mourners attended the funeral procession of 102-year-old Muslim spiritual leader Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, on Saturday.

The procession started at Burhanuddin's residence amid tight security arrangements.

The body of the leader was placed in a casket draped with the Indian National Flag, escorted by policemen, family members and community heads.

He is succeeded by his 70-year-old son.

Earlier on Saturday, at least 18 people died when a stampede broke out amongst mourners.
