United States President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for Senate Republicans to get rid of the legislative filibuster and said that they are wasting time if they don't get rid of it.

"If Republican Senate doesn't get rid of the Filibuster Rule & go to a simple majority, which the Dems would do, they are just wasting time!" Trump tweeted.

Furthermore, Trump once again slammed the mainstream media, this time for not covering his statements on Charlottesville violence fairly.

"Phoenix crowd last night was amazing - a packed house. I love the Great State of Arizona. Not a fan of Jeff Flake, weak on crime & border! Last night in Phoenix I read the things from my statements on Charlottesville that the Fake News Media didn't cover fairly. People got it!" Trump said in as series of tweet.

Meanwhile, the United Nations committee charged with tackling racism has criticised Trump for failing to "unequivocally and unconditionally reject discrimination and condemn racist hate speech and crimes in Charlottesville" and throughout the U.S.

"There should be no place in the world for racist white supremacist ideas or any similar ideologies that reject the core human rights principles of human dignity and equality," the Independent quoted the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination as saying.

This comes a week after a civil rights activist, Heather Heyer, was killed when a car rammed into a group of people protesting against a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Trump has been widely criticised for blaming "both sides" for the violence in Charlottesville .

Trump had last month criticised U.S. Senate rules requiring 60 votes to overcome a filibuster, after a devastating setback to the GOP effort to repeal and replace Obamacare.

"Republican Senate must get rid of 60 vote NOW! It is killing the R Party, allows 8 Dems to control country. 200 Bills sit in Senate. A JOKE!." he tweeted.

Earlier, he had also criticised his own party's Senate leader, Mitch McConnell, for failing to get ObamaCare repealed and replaced.

"Senator Mitch McConnell said I had "excessive expectations," but I don't think so. After 7 years of hearing Repeal & Replace, why not done?" Trump tweeted.

Trump's reaction comes after the Kentucky Republican vented his frustrations about the president's "excessive expectations" for his agenda.

"Now our new president has of course not been in this line of work before. And I think had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process," McConnell said.

Republicans in the Senate had failed to pass a plan last month to repeal and replace Obamacare.
