Violence erupted in Noida in Uttar Pradesh after a speeding bus hit two-wheeler and a car, which provoked irate residents and they set the bus on fire.
Fire tenders and police officials were rushed to the spot. No causalities have been reported yet. The police, at the accident site, said people ran after setting the bus on fire.
"The accident took place and people in the vehicle, which was hit by the bus, set the bus on fire and they ran way after that. We are yet to find out details of people who were involved," said a police official, R.P.
Singh.
Eyewitnesses said the vehicles were standing at the red light when the bus rammed.
"The vehicles, which were hit, were standing at the red light when this speeding bus hit them. First it hit a car and then a two-wheeler. We do not know who set the bus on fire," said an onlooker, Bhushan.
Road accidents are common in India, where roads are often of poor quality. Transport officials attribute a large number of accidents in India to reckless driving and untrained drivers.
