National Students Union of India (NSUI) workers on Tuesday staged a protest against Union Law Minister Sadananda Gowda's comment on the Vyapam scam, where he said that is not fair to ask for the Prime Minister's response on 'silly issues'.

"The concerned ministers and party president have answered. For each silly issue asking the Prime Minister to answer is not fair," Gowda said.

The Congress Party has been demanding a fair and transparent probe into the 2013 scam and the immediate removal of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan from office.

The Supreme Court has also agreed to hear a petition against Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav to ensure a fair inquiry into the Vyapam scam.

The matter is scheduled to be heard on July 9.
