Arsenal centre-forward Danny Welbeck's stoppage-time equaliser denied Hull City a victory against them and also ensured them avoiding equalling their worst start to a league season under manager Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez gave the hosts an early lead with a fierce low shot in the 13th minute, But a disputed Mohamed Diame strike, the midfielder seemed to foul Mathieu Flamini, four minutes later and an Abel Hernandez header put Hull ahead.

However, Welbeck rescued a point by guiding in a clever Sanchez pass in the first minute of stoppage time, The BBC reported.

Until then, Wenger's side looked as if they would equal their tally of 10 points from their opening eight league matches in 2011-12. But England striker Welbeck's fifth goal in seven appearances since signing from Manchester United averted the ignominious loss of Arsenal's 21-game unbeaten home league record.

Still, the draw means that Arsenal has won just one of their past seven league matches and lose more ground on leaders Chelsea.

Moreover, Arsenal's bad luck continued with another injury to midfielder Jack Wilshere, this time to a knee, canceling out Aaron Ramsey's return.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said that it is a very disappointing result because they were very unlucky with the referee's decision for the first goal. He added that Hull had two shots and scored two goals, and it is a long time since they have dominated so much and not won the game.

Hull manager Steve Bruce said that his side deserved maybe to hang on but a lot of them have been all over the world this week and they were running on empty. He also said that they have hardly had any injuries this season but Jelavic's twisted his knee, Harper looks like he's torn a bicep and Michael Dawson's got a twisted ankle.
