A 17-year-old has become Britain's youngest ever suicide bomber after he reportedly blew himself up in Iraq.

Talha Asmal, along with four other suicide bombers, detonated a vehicle laden with explosives near an oil refinery south of Baiji. Social media reports linked to the Islamic State (IS) said that Asmal, who was renamed Abu Yusuf al-Britani by the terror group, took part in the bombing, reported the BBC.

A statement released by his family said that the West Yorkshire teenager was a "loving, kind, caring and affable" kid who never bore any ill will against anybody or indulged in any violent, extreme or radical views of any kind. It added that the family was 'devastated' by the news.

They also said that Asmal's naivety was exploited by persons, who hid behind the anonymity of the internet and befriended and groomed him deliberately.
